This year, The Boys’ Brigade, in conjunction with the Church of Scotland World Mission Council, will raise money for new equipment for a camp in the mountains of the Czech Republic.
The Comenuis Camp, run by the Evangelical Church of the Czech Brethren, is in need of new equipment and furniture so it can continue to run camps and a range of activities for young people.
Over the next twelve months, the BB members will support the project through a range of fundraising initiatives, including community fayres and sponsored events, such as a fun run.
Bill Stevenson, Director of The Boys’ Brigade in Scotland, said: “This is an incredibly worthwhile cause and international work is a big part of the BB programme. The BB / Church of Scotland World Mission Fund is just one example of that. Over the past 60 years, the money raised is in excess of £1.5 million.
“The Comenius Camp is a really exciting place to go and we hope through a range of fundraising efforts, we can help improve the facilities. We also hope some of our young people will have the opportunity to visit, see the impact of the work first hand and meet other like-minded young people in a fun environment.”
The Boys’ Brigade 2013 Appeal, PLAY-PUMPS: growing for the future, raised £12,000.
