Refugees Information Session

Tuesday June 13 2023

A free event will be held next week to help equip churches and faith groups in building community with refugees and people seeking asylum (New Scots).

The lunchtime information session on Wednesday June 21, organised by Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations’ Council (EVOC) and Scottish Faiths Action for Refugees (SFAR), will include:

  • Updates on the current situation for New Scots in the Lothians, including the latest news about the MS Victoria.
  • Advice and guidance on how to connect with and begin supporting New Scots
  • Information on accessing funding for projects involving New Scots.
  • An opportunity to meet and connect with other faith communities involved in this work.

The event takes place during Refugee Week, an ‘annual festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary’. The week has been celebrated in the UK since 1998, and includes the UN-organised World Refugee Day on June 20.

The session is a hybrid event, which you can join at the Church of Scotland offices in Edinburgh, or remotely online. Lunch will be available for people attending in-person. Register for free at Eventbrite.
