Milton of Campsie Church held a summer mission for over 60 children themed around the theme of hunger.

Called ‘Scranarama’, the mission combined the stories of Jesus and Oliver Twist with music, art and drama, games in the local park, a community art project called ‘All Shall Be Included’ and, each evening, a short Sundown Service led by young people.

The nine-day mission culminated in an all-age concert of music, art and drama, raising over £1000 to be divided among four charities.

A congregation of well over 100, including several members of the 1960s Youth Fellowship, assembled for the closing worship at St John’s Onthank, Kilmarnock, on August 27.

The service, the last before the church united with New Laigh Kirk, was conducted by the Rev Fiona Maxwell, Interim Moderator, with Holy Communion conducted by the Rev Susan Anderson, minister from 1997-2014. Afterwards the bible and communion elements were carried from the sanctuary, followed by the congregation, outside into the grounds of the church and concluded there with the Benediction.

The congregation of Baillieston St Andrew’s Church had the opportunity to celebrate the 70th wedding anniversary of Jim and Margaret McKenzie, who were married in Baillieston Old Parish Church on September 5 1953. The are pictured with the Rev Edson Duque de Castro.
