Ministry in a Changing Scotland Discussion

Tuesday November 21 2023

A panel of ministers from parish and academia will join sociologist David McCrone to talk about ‘Ministry in a Changing Scotland’ on Thursday.

The event, at the University of Edinburgh’s New College, will discuss Dr McCrone’s social analysis of Scottish society over the last 30 years, and creative responses to that in a range of local ministries. Dr McCrone is Emeritus Professor of Sociology at the University.

The panel will consist of: the Rev Dr Richard Frazer, minister of Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh; William Storrar, honorary professor at the University of Edinburgh School of Divinity, New College, and Director of the Center of Theological Enquiry in Princeton, USA; Alison Jack, Principal of New College; and Gillian Couper, a ministry candidate and parish associate at Greyfriars Kirk.

The event is an opportunity to map a future with hope for ministry in Scotland in light of social change and innovative practice.

For more information and to register for the event, at 4pm this Thursday November 23, visit the New College website.
