Around 500 people, equal to half the population of the village, attended events at Freuchie Parish Church over the first weekend in Advent. On Saturday, a Christmas fair was held and then a Messy Church focussing on the Christmas story. That evening a community carol service was held outside the church and the Christmas tree lights were turned on. On the Sunday morning, a special service looking at Christmas music was led by the Rev Ian Hamilton. All of this was in very seasonal surroundings due to the heavy snowfall on Saturday morning.

Maurice Cunningham was ordained into the eldership of the Isla Parishes on December 10. He is pictured with the Rev Stephen A Blakey.

In November Saline and Blairingone Parish Church welcomed four new elders. John Hull was admitted while Jack Shuttleworth, Irene Wardell and Andrew Smith were ordained. Jack Shuttleworth is the son of church minister, the Rev Alec Shuttleworth; while Andrew Smith is the husband of the Rev Fiona Smith, Principal Clerk to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, who also took part in the service.
