Guild announces national convener

Tuesday February 18 2014

The Church of Scotland Guild has announced the appointment of Kay Keith as its National Convener for the coming year.

Kay (pictured left), a retired primary school headteacher from Dumfries Presbyterial Council, is the current National Vice Convener. An elder and presbytery elder in her local area, she has served the Guild as former council convener, as well as convening the Guild’s finance committee at national level. Kay also plays a significant role in the Church’s Social Care Council, as a member, vice chair of its quality and standards committee and representative on the Church’s Safeguarding Committee.

She said: “Serving as Vice Convener, I have found working with the Guild at national level interesting and exciting. I have been challenged by the scope and diversity of work. I am privileged indeed to be asked to be Convener of such an organisation at a time of review and change as the Guild continues to identify and meet the needs of the world in which we serve today.”

Linda Young from Kirkcaldy Presbyterial Council will be the new Vice Convener. A Guild member for 40 years, Linda (pictured right) also brings considerable experience to the role - serving the Guild on its National Executive as well as locally in her own Guild and more recently as Guild Council Convener. Linda plays a key role in community projects such as the local foodbank and in the last few years has focussed on raising the profile of the Prayer Shawl Ministry across the Guild movement.

Kay and Linda will take up their posts following the General Assembly in May 2014.
