Lent Study Explores Poverty

Tuesday January 23 2024

A new resource has been produced for Lent helping churches to explore how to respond to the issue of poverty.

The Act On Poverty Lent programme, produced by Church Action on Poverty (CAP) and Christian Aid, with other partners, is designed to help churches host meaningful conversations about how to tackle the issue in the UK, and abroad.

One in five people in the UK lives in relative poverty, and CAP are hoping to move the issue to the top of the political agenda in this general election year. And campaigners say the worsening climate crisis is exacerbating destitution, poverty and inequality around the world.

The programme will be available to download from the Christian Aid website, or you can take part online, with other supporters across the UK.

It is designed to follow Church Action on Poverty Sunday, which takes place as usual on the Sunday before Lent (February 11 this year). CAP has produced free worship resources to assist congregations to reflect on the problems of poverty and to pray for change.

Sign up to be informed when the Lent course will be available here.
