Tearfund Rwanda Director Reflects on Genocide and Forgiveness

Tuesday May 7 2024

Tearfund’s country director for Rwanda will reflect on the Power of Forgiveness, 30 Years on from the Rwandan genocide, when he visits Scotland later this month.

Emmanuel Murangira lost family members in the genocide, and grew up as a refugee. He credits the church with providing health services and ‘any semblance of a formal education’ in his early years.

Joining Tearfund about 15 years ago, he is passionate about he power of churches to make a difference in people’s lives.

As part of his visit to Scotland, Emmanuel will appear at an event at Adelaide Place Baptist Church, Glasgow, on Wednesday May 15. He will share his account of growing up in a country divided by conflict, and an insight into life in the country 30 years since – including how, in his role with Tearfund, he is leading the work to equip the church to be at the heart of efforts to rebuild and restore hope.

The evening will also include an opportunity for worship, and to pray for peace and reconciliation in conflict situations around the world.

The event starts at 7.30pm and is free. Reserve a spot at Eventbrite
