Chaplain's Walk in Memory of John Muir

Tuesday June 3 2014

Eco-Congregation Scotland's Environmental Chaplain is walking the newly opened John Muir Way from this weekend.

Trevor Jamison (right)  is walking in celebration of the life of the Scottish-born naturalist, author and environmental campaigner after whom the walk is named. The 135-mile route, opened this year to mark the centenary of John Muir's death, runs from Helensburgh on the River Clyde (from whence Muir departed with his family for America) to Dunbar (his birthplace).

Trevor, a minister in the United Reformed Church, said: "By walking the John Muir Way I want to affirm that his concern for the environment is one that Christians share today. I also want to encourage Christians to find language about creation that both reflects our gratitude to God and also speaks effectively to others who, whilst sharing our concerns, are reluctant to identify themselves as church people."

Trevor is walking between the 6 and 16 of June. If you wish to know more or be updated about his progress you can email him.
