John Sykes' winning entry from last year's competition

Faith Through a Lens, the prestigious annual photography competition which celebrates diverse representations of faith has launched today.

Open to amateur photographers across the UK, Faith Through a Lens 2014 calls for creative photography that showcases everyday demonstrations and expressions of faith. Last year’s winner, John Sykes, captured a pensive moment of a young monk at Angkor Wat, Cambodia, and was praised by judges for its beautiful paint-like contrast and striking composition.

One winner, along with two highly commended entries, will be announced at an exclusive awards ceremony held in Central London during Inter Faith Week, November 16-24. Ten shortlisted finalists will be invited to the event and each will receive photography prizes worth £250. The three winning entrants can nominate a charity, faith or community group to receive £1,000 worth of audio-visual or photography equipment of their choice, along with claiming £1,000 and £850 worth of personal prizes respectively. This includes Albelli photo books vouchers, a Huggler photo book, Rachel Bridgen Photography tuition vouchers and Serif software packages.

Amateur photographers over the age of 16 can find further information and how to enter via www.faiththroughalens.co.uk, entries will also be available to view for the duration of the competition through the website and on Congregational’s social media channels including Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
