Scottish Government minister and top academics to speak at pilgrimage conference

Tuesday September 2 2014

A Scottish Government Minister for the Environment is to give the opening address at a one-day conference exploring pilgrimage in Scotland.

The Scottish Pilgrimage Gathering is to take place on October 3 at The Vine Conference Centre in Dunfermline. Organised jointly by the Scottish Pilgrim Routes Forum and Forth Pilgrim, a social enterprise based in Dunfermline, it aims to bring together organisations and people who are interested in developing faith tourism in Scotland.

The theme of the day is 'Community With Nature - Environmental Perspectives on Pilgrimage'. Contributors include Paul Wheelhouse, Scottish Minister for Environment and Climate Change; Professor Sam Berry, Emeritus Professor of Genetics at University College London and a past president of Christians in Science; and the Rev Dr Ian Bradley, principal of St Mary's College, St Andrews and author of Pilgrimage: A Spiritual and Cultural Journey.
