Imagining Scotland's Future Tomorrow

Tuesday November 4 2014

The latest in the Church of Scotland’s ‘respectful dialogue’ events on the country’s future is held tomorrow night (Wednesday) in Glasgow.

‘Scotland’s Future Now’ continues the series of events held in the approach to September’s independence referendum. Like the last of those events, it takes place in Glasgow’s St George’s Tron Church and will be streamed live to similar gatherings in churches from Ayr to Orkney, as well as through the Church of Scotland's website.

The meeting will discuss the values which should underpin the country post-referendum. Speakers will include the former leader of Scottish Labour, Johann Lamont; Dr Alasdair Allan, Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland’s Languages; and Colin Faulkner of the Smith Commission Secretariat, which is tasked with bringing proposals for further devolution of powers to the Scottish Parliament.

The events will run from 6.45-9pm and are open to all. Satellite meetings will take place in Ayr Auld Kirk, Dunblane Cathedral, Dundee Steeple Church, Inverness Crown Church, Lanark Greyfriars Church, Penicuik North Church, Aberdeen Queen’s Cross Church and St Magnus Cathedral, Kirkwall. The webcast will be through www.churchofscotland.org.uk from 7pm.
