Christian-Humanist Dialogue in Edinburgh

Wednesday April 8

Christians and Humanists will share a platform next month in Edinburgh to discuss relationships between the two traditions.

The meeting, entitled 'Can a Christian be a Humanist? Can a Humanist be a Christian?', will be held in St Andrew's and St George's West Church on May 23 from 10am-12 noon. It will include speakers from both the Church of Scotland and the Humanist Society of Scotland, and a Q and A session with the audience.

It is organised by the Rev Dr Russel Moffat, minister of St Martin's Church in Edinburgh. He said: "We hope to explore the history, philosophy and theology of Humanism, its relationship to religion and the possibility for dialogue and fruitful engagement between the Church and the Humanist society in our contemporary culture."
