Moderators' Munro Fundraising for Nepal Tops £8k

                                                                                                                                                               Monday May 4 2015

THE Moderators of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland the National Youth Assembly have raised more than £8,000 for emergency relief in Nepal after scaling a snow-topped Ben Lomond on Saturday.

Joined by a group of friends and supporters, the two Moderators had initially planned the climb to raise funds for Christian Aid as part of the celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the charity. Following the earthquake in Nepal the Moderators asked for all sponsorship for the climb to be diverted to Christian Aid's Nepal Earthquake Appeal.

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Rt Rev John Chalmers said "This has been an extraordinary response to a terrible tragedy. I would like to express my thanks to everyone who has taken part and to the people who sponsored the walkers. Their generosity has exceeded all expectations."

Donations can still be pledged here, as well as the DEC appeal.
