Over 300 events make up the programme of the 2015 Just Festival in Edinburgh, which was announced yesterday.

The former Festival of Spirituality and Peace is celebrating its fifteenth edition with the theme ’15 years of light’. The festival collaborates with over fifty faith groups (including the Church of Scotland), grassroots organisations and academic institutions to explore the work that is being done in Edinburgh on a local, national and international level to create sustainable peace for all based on compassion and justice.

Performances include music, theatre, dance and comedy from all over the world, while there are talks on issues ranging from modern day slavery, and freedom and religion to fair trade and life in Syria, Liberia and the Ukraine.

There are a number of events on Britain’s Travellers, led by members of the Gypsy/Traveller community who will aim to dispel myths and discuss some of the issues they face living in Scotland today.

There is also a families programme with puppetry, crafts, film, theatre, storytelling and an interfaith family walk.

The festival runs from August 7-31, with the majority of events in St John’s Church on Princes Street or Central Hall, West Tollcross. Full programme and booking at just-festival.org
