Highland Theological College's New Glasgow Base

Tuesday June 16

Highland Theological College UHI is opening a new base in Glasgow this autumn.

The college, based in Dingwall in the Highlands, has negotiated a collaboration with the United Free Church of Scotland to use its Newton Place premises in Glasgow’s west end. This will enable it to offer on-campus study as well as distance learning to students from the central belt.

The premises will be used to offer the college’s BA in theological studies. The degree is recognised by the Church of Scotland, the United Free Church and other denominations for the training of candidates for the ministry.

College Principal, the Rev Hector Morrison, said: “This new provision at Newton Place is offered to central belt-based students as an enhancement to the excellent distance-learning service already offered. This is a fantastic development for Highland Theological College UHI and we are grateful to the United Free Church of Scotland for partnering with us to make this project possible and for their tremendous encouragement and excitement at being part of this work.”

The college was launched in 1994 and is a partner in the University of the Highlands and Islands. It has been recognised by the Church of Scotland as a trainer of ministers since 2006.
