A prominent member of the church in West Lothian for over 50 years has been presented with an MBE for services to the local community.
Sandy Pirie, who was named in the New Year Honours List, was presented with his medal at a ceremony in the Civic Centre, Livingston by Lord Lieutenant Isobel Brydie.
Sandy was one of the founding members of the then Livingston Ecumenical Parish and served as Session Clerk, as an Elder for 29 years and was the first Elder Moderator of West Lothian Presbytery. He arrived in Livingston in the late 1960s as Head of the new Craigshill High School, where he stayed until his retirement.
