Composer to lead charity sing at Edinburgh church

THE world-famous composer and choral conductor, John Rutter will lead a special informal singing workshop in Edinburgh in September.

‘Come and Sing’ will take place at Morningside Parish Church on Saturday September 12 from 11am to 5pm (with registration from 10am).

All proceeds from the workshop will be donated to charities Scottish Love in Action, the Edinburgh Clothing Store, the Bethany Trust and Morningside Church.

The Rev Dr Derek Browning, minister at Morningside said: “It will be a relaxed and informal learning and singing day, with no formal performance at the end. All singing abilities are welcome, although some basic sight-reading skill would be useful.”

Music for the event includes items from “Weddings for Choirs” as well as Rutter’s own pieces, “Look to the Day”, “The Sprig of Thyme”, “Amazing Grace” and Shearing’s, “Who is Sylvia?”

Tickets for the day will cost tickets are £18, (£15 concesssion for OAPs, unwaged or students).
