The book, which is expected to fetch around £1500, was found in a cellar full of donations to the St Andrew's and St George's West sale. Stowe's inscription includes her signature and a quote from the book.
Uncle Tom's Cabin, which was published in 1852, was the best-selling novel and second best-selling book (after the Bible) of the 19th century. It is credited with fuelling the anti-slavery movement and with being a contributing factor behind the American Civil War.
The annual book sale at St Andrew's and St George's began in 1974, and has raised a total of nearly £2m for Christian Aid. Every year, volunteers from churches throughout Edinburgh and further afield sort, price and sell thousands of items, including books, music, paintings, antiques and toys.
This year's patron is the former Archbishop of Canterbury, the Rt Rev Rowan Williams, who is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Christian Aid.
The sale runs from this Saturday, May 11, to Friday May 17, except Sunday. Check the church website for opening hours.
