MODERATOR CELEBRATES CHURCH'S 125TH ANNIVERSARY

 

THE Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Rt Rev Dr Angus Morrison joined the congregation and guests at Appin Parish Church on July 12  to celebrate 125 years of worship in the village kirk.

The guests included the congregation of Lismore Parish Church, which is linked with Appin.

The service was led by the interim moderator the Rev Robert Brookes with the Moderator preaching the sermon. Readings were in Gaelic and English with songs from Sunday school and soloist.

The day finished with a Service of Praise led by the congregation.

Anniversary celebrations at the church included a flower festival reflecting the village's organisations and an exhibition of photographs from yesteryear.

STIRLING CHURCH ELDERS CLOCK UP OVER 170 YEARS OF SERVICE

 

Five elders at Viewfield Erskine Church in Stirling were presented with long service certificates on July 5, clocking up over 170 years of service between them.

The certificates were presented by the Rev Alan Miller to John Jackson (30), John Donaldson (50), Isobel Weir (30), Irene Forrest (30) and Clem Campbell (31).

OVER 200 YEARS OF SERVICE ACKNOWLEDGED BY THE MODERATOR

Five elders who have clocked up over 200 years of service between them at a Fife church were presented with long service certificates by the Moderator of the General Assembly on August 2.

The congregation of Glenrothes: St Margaret's welcomed the Rt Rev Dr Angus Morrison and his wife Marion to Sunday worship, where he preached and presented the certificates to five elders - William Beveridge, William Warrender, Elma Scott, Agnes Stirling and Ronald Cameron.
