ACTS Move to Stirling

THE ecumenical partnership, Action of Churches Together in Scotland (ACTS) is moving from Alloa to Stirling next month.

The partnership, which brings together a number of Scottish Christian churches, including the Church of Scotland, Catholic Church and Scottish Episcopal Church, will be relocating to offices within Jubilee House, the headquarters of Volunteer Scotland, from October 19.

The Rev Matthew Ross, General Secretary of ACTS, said: “The Alloa office has served ACTS well, but is difficult to reach by public transport. The new office will solve this problem; it is located very near to Stirling's bus and railway stations. It will also save money and offer efficient and modern working conditions for the staff team.”

A special ecumenical service will be held to mark the 25th anniversary of Action of Churches Together in Scotland (ACTS). The service will be held in St Andrew’s Metropolitan (Catholic) Cathedral, Clyde Street, Glasgow starting at 11am on Saturday November 14. The guest preacher will be the Very Rev Dr Sheilagh Kesting, Secretary of the Church of Scotland’s Committee on Ecumenical Relations and a former Moderator of the General Assembly. All are welcome to attend.

A concert will also take place to mark the milestone at Stockbridge Parish Church, Saxe Coburg Street, Edinburgh on Sunday 4th October 2015 starting at 6.00 pm. Tickets are £7, available at the door. The concert will feature Gen Verde - the Italian-based music group of the Focolare Movement who are doing a tour of the UK during the autumn of 2015.

ACTS is Scotland’s national ecumenical body. Founded in 1990, it is a joint initiative of the Church of Scotland, Congregational Federation, Methodist Church, Religious Society of Friends, Roman Catholic Church, Salvation Army, Scottish Episcopal Church, United Free Church of Scotland and United Reformed Church. ACTS aims to bring Christians of different traditions in Scotland closer to one another in their shared faith in Jesus Christ by meeting, praying, learning, reflecting and acting together on matters of common concern.
