Cathedral Service to Celebrate and Pray for Glasgow

Thursday January 7

A special service will be held in Glasgow Cathedral on Sunday to celebrate St Mungo’s Day.

The ecumenical service, organised by Glasgow Churches Together, will celebrate the city and pray for its wellbeing.

It will include choral and instrumental music, with young people playing a prominent part. The speaker will be

Dr Irene O’Brien, Senior Archivist at the Mitchell Library in Glasgow and Chair of the Scottish Council on Archives.

St Mungo (or Kentigern) is the founder and patron saint of Glasgow, and the miracles attributed to him appear in the city’s coat of arms (pictured).

The Cathedral service takes place this Sunday, January 10, at 4.30pm.
