Richmond’s Hope, which was started by Richmond Craigmillar Church in Edinburgh as a local project, now serves the whole city as well as Midlothian. It is widely recognised in Scotland as a leader in the field of child bereavement and has received numerous accolades for its innovation and professionalism.
To celebrate the anniversary, the project is holding a fun day in the grounds of Duddingston Kirk tomorrow (Saturday June 1), and a service of thanksgiving in Richmond Craigmillar on Suday.
The charity’s manager, Donna Hastings, said: “The whole staff team is passionate about the difference that our work can make to children and teenagers who are grieving.
“As the project has grown we have learnt so much from all of the young people and their families and that is always helping us to provide the best support we can.”
Jen Cassidy, now 25, was 15 when she attended the project for support. She said: “I believe I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the support I got from Richmond’s Hope. I don’t think I would have been able to move past what happened”.
