A 'NIGHT Light' service to raise funds for the Church of Scotland's HIV programme and Christian Aid, will take place at an Edinburgh church later this month.
Staged jointly between the city's Morningside, Greenbank and Fairmilehead parish churches, the services have previously featured a focus on mental health issues, the music of Taizé, World AIDS Day and the Psalms of Lament.
This year's service will take place at Morningside Parish Church on Sunday April 24 at 7pm, with music from the Heart and Soul Swing Band, which comprises ministers and members of the Church of Scotland and recently featured on the BBC's Songs of Praise.
The minister at Morningside, the Rev Dr Derek Browning said he was looking forward to welcoming the band to the church for the first time.
“Having been involved with the General Assembly and the Heart and Soul event for a number of years, I’ve always been impressed by the Swing Band’s enthusiasm and range of talents. It’s also wonderful that they are using their talents to raise money for the Church of Scotland HIV programme, one of the most innovative and worthwhile projects the Church has supported.”
