Book Sale Raises Over £100,000

Monday June 6

This year's Christian Aid book sale at St Andrew's and St George's West Church in Edinburgh raised over £106,000, it has been announced.

Writing to supporters, the convener of the book sale, Mary Davidson, said: "Miraculously the sun shone on us in May 2016 and we soon lost count of the blessings bestowed on us this year."

The new head of Christian Aid Scotland, the Rev Sally Foster-Fulton, was presented with a cheque at morning worship on Sunday June 12. This was in addition to £30,000 already given this year.

The book sale, which has been running each Christian Aid Week since 1974, sold its millionth book this year; and among the other statistics was that in total the sale had 1808 boxes of books and music - 155 more than last year.

This year, there will be a new Christian Aid event at St Andrew's and St George's West: an art sale in the church from October 27-29.
