The church-founded international charity Vine Trust has launched a crowdfunding appeal to get its newest ship delivered to Peru.
Since 2003, the Trust has been involved in delivering floating primary health care services to remoted and isolated communities on the Peruvian Amazon and more recently on Lake Victoria in Tanzania, using converted ex-Royal Navy vessels.
Its latest ship, MV Forth Hope, is due to sail for Peru at the end of May, where it is expected to deliver 2 million dental, medical and ophthalmic treatments over the next 20 years.
The estimated cost of delivering this new purpose built ship to Iquitos, and its initial deployment, is £102,520; and you can help towards these costs at https://mydonate.bt.com/events/floattheboat
Vine Trust grew out of a charity gift shop set up in the 1980s by St Andrew’s Church, Bo’ness, in response to famine in Africa. Its projects in Tanzania and Peru have so far helped over 1.3 million people: through healthcare, homebuilding, care and education programmes.
