Prayer Walk for Commonwealth Games

                                                                                                                                    Thursday August 1 2013

A Prayer Walk this weekend will mark the beginning of the countdown to next year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Organised by More Than Gold, the group charged with organising the Christian response to Glasgow 2014, the walks will take place each month until the Commonweath Games open in the city next summer.

The August 2013 walk will take place on Saturday August 3 at St Leo the Great Parish Church in Beech Avenue Glasgow http://goo.gl/maps/MnpQR). The route will be via the site of the new Hospice at Bellahouston Park, Ibrox Church, Kinning Park Church and Ibrox Stadium, returning to St Leo's at 12 noon for refreshments. At each stop there will be a prayer for local and city intentions.

A spokesperson for More Than Gold said: "Prayer Walking is a great way to engage with God, develop your prayer relationship, meet new folk and improve your fitness, wholeness and holiness while praying that Glasgow will flourish."

More Than Gold has the support of church leaders in Glasgow in leading Christians to support the Glasgow Games.

Glasgow¹s church leaders have endorsed the More Than Gold campaign to guide
the Christian response to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
