The congregation at Cramond Kirk were commended for their hard work by minister, the Rev Dr Russell Barr as they handed over £10,000 to the charity following the latest drive to raise funds during Christian Aid week earlier this year. The charity, which is supported by churches, works overseas to overcome poverty and provides emergency relief in the wake of disaster.
Praising the work of the congregation, Dr Barr said: “For the last 20 years we have organised events and held collections in order to gather donations for this great cause. It is thanks to the help and support of the local community that our efforts are such a success."
Volunteers hit this year's five-figure total after a door-to-door collection, quiz evening and church fete.
